Anthropocene Goddess Series

From earliest human records, Nature has been embodied as female. The Anthropocene Goddess series explore environmental collapse using classical Greek nature deities as proxies for the ecosystems they traditionally inhabited. Gestures of distress signal anxieties triggered by ecological degradation, and subvert academic traditions of idealized nudes in Arcadian settings. Molecular symbols acknowledge the science behind the climate crises, and reveal invisible toxins permeating 21st Century landscapes. Altered colonial era maps reflect cultural as well as environmental changes that began with European colonization of the New World. 2018-2021
